Empowering Change through Capacity Building:

Over four impactful days (May 12-16, 2025), staff of the Bakhita Initiative (JDPC Sokoto) participated in a capacity-building workshop organized by Caritas Nigeria’s Institutional Capacity Strengthening (ICS) Unit. This training, led by ICS Manager Abang Moses (PMP®, PMD-Pro, PgMD, DPro, MEAL DPro), aimed to strengthen organizational skills for more effective service delivery.

Day 1: Project Management Fundamentals
The training kicked off with an introduction to key project management principles, focusing on planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Through interactive sessions, participants gained foundational knowledge to enhance project efficiency.

Day 2: Advanced Project Planning and Analysis
Day 2 delved into critical concepts, including the purpose of logical frameworks, indicator definitions, high-level analysis, means of verification (MOV), and risk management. Participants also explored project setup, stakeholder engagement, and the importance of structured project launch.

Day 3: Essential Management Skills
Participants focused on program management, human resource planning, procurement, and logistics. These skills are vital for ensuring coordinated efforts, well-managed teams, cost-effective procurement, and smooth logistical support throughout the project lifecycle.

Day 4: Project Closure and Sustainability
The final day addressed the critical phase of project closure. Topics included what happens at the end of a project, five transition scenarios (closure, handover, extension, expansion, redesign), transition planning matrices, and documenting lessons learned. Participants now understand how to complete projects while ensuring sustainability and knowledge retention.

Strengthening Local Capacity for Lasting Impact
This training not only built essential project management skills but also reinforced the commitment to inclusive governance, youth engagement, and women’s leadership. With these enhanced capacities, the Bakhita Initiative team is well-prepared to implement impactful and sustainable projects in Sokoto.

Together, we continue to foster positive change for our communities.
