Commemorating Menstrual Hygiene Day – Promoting Dignity and Awareness Through the Kyautata Rayuwa Project
Every 28th May, the world comes together to observe Menstrual Hygiene Day — a day dedicated to breaking the silence, raising awareness, and changing negative social norms around menstrual health.
To mark this important day, The Bakhita Initiative -JDPC Sokoto, in partnership with CRS Nigeria, reached out to a total of 67 female students across two project locations under the Kyautata Rayuwa Project:
Kasarawa Secondary School in Wamakko LGA
Achida Government Day Secondary School in Wurno LGA
The girls, aged 11 to 18, received free sanitary pads and participated in a practical demonstration on proper usage and safe disposal.
The goal wasn’t just to educate the students — but to empower them to pass on this knowledge to their friends, families, and neighbors who may face challenges managing their menstrual health.
Through awareness, education, and support, we are working to ensure no girl is left behind because of her period.
